Movie Desktop Wallpaper Biography
The X Window System was one of the earliest systems to include support for an arbitrary image as wallpaper via the xsetroot program, which at least as early as the X10R3 release in 1985 could tile the screen with any solid color or any binary-image X BitMap file.[2] In 1989, a free software program called xgifroot was released that allowed an arbitrary color GIF image to be used as wallpaper,[3] and in the same year the free xloadimage program was released which could display a variety of image formats (including color images in Sun Rasterfile format) as the desktop background.[4] Subsequently a number of programs were released that added wallpaper support for additional image formats and other features, such as the xpmroot program (released in 1993 as part of fvwm[5]) and the xv software (released in 1994).
The original Macintosh operating system only allowed a selection of 8×8-pixel binary-image tiled patterns; the ability to use small color patterns was added in System 5 in 1987.[6] MacOS 8 in 1997 was the first Macintosh version to include built-in support for using arbitrary images as desktop pictures, rather than small repeating patterns.

Ernest Borgnine is one of the most successful Hollywood actors of his generation. Born as Ermes Effron Borgnino, he has taken on the screen name Ernest Borgnine when his career began to flourish in the movie industry during the early 1950s. Borgnine, who was born in Hamden Connecticut, was a part of the United States Navy during his younger years. He was discharged in 1945 after serving a total of ten years in the Navy. He had reached the rank of a Gunner’s Mate 1st Class.

After his retirement in the navy, his mother who was also interested in performing arts encouraged him to take a job in the entertainment industry, saying to him that he has a personality fit for the stage. He took his mother’s suggestion seriously and got himself accepted in the Barter Theater in Abingdon, Virginia despite his father’s lack of enthusiasm for his choice of career.

In 1947, he landed his first role in the stage in the State of the Union. He won the audience with his short but memorable role. After that came a series of other stage performances that honed his craft as an artist and gave him a name in the show business.

His first major break came when he moved to Los Angeles, California in 1951. He got to play the role of Sergeant “Fatso” Judson in the movie From Here to Eternity (1953). Early in his career, he mostly got roles of villains in movies like Johnny Guitar, Bad Day at Black Rock, and Vera Cruz, among others.

He was also known for playing unconventional lead roles in a wide variety of movies. One of the most notable is his role in the 1955 film Marty that earned him an Academy Award. Here he played the role of a kind butcher that gave him an edge over other renowned actors like Spencer Tracy and James Cagney.

His film career took a full swing throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Some of his most memorable performances can be seen in The Vikings, The Dirty Dozen, The Flight of the Phoenix, The Poseidon Adventure, Ice Station Zebra, and The Black Hole.

But he wasn’t only visible in the silver screen. He was also very active in the television especially with his role as Quinton McHale in the series McHale’s Navy, which ran from 1962 up to 1966. He has taken countless of television roles. In fact, he even got an Emmy nomination for his acting stint in the series ER, and he was already 92 years old at that time. Other television series he was a part of include Short Short Dramas, Fireside Theatre, Waterfront, The Lone Wolf, The Blue Angels, Goodyear Television Playhouse, The O. Henry Playhouse, Frontier Justice, Laramie, The Ford Television Theatre, Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre, Run for Your Life, and many more.
